There have been many conflicting studies as to the weight loss effects of green tea. From a scientific standpoint, green tea contains a small amount of caffeine which speeds up your heart rate and energizes you. If you were to drink green to prior to a workout, it would perk you up and allow you to work out longer and at a higher intensity, but simply drinking green tea while watching t.v. probably won't yield any weight loss benefits.
