How long can alcohol be detected?

The length of time alcohol can be detected is very short. Alcohol metabolizes very quickly in the body and you can expect that it will take one hour for every drink you have for the alcohol to no longer be detectable. This is based on the drink having only one shot or ounce of alcohol per drink. There is a new test called Ethyl Glucuronide that can detect it for days however, it would not be possible for use at a traffic stop. The test is to help determine if someone who had habitual use of alcohol is once again drinking.
